Roof leaks are a very common problem. Most of us are familiar with the annoying ‘drip, drip, drip’ of water leaking from our ceilings. If nothing else, we’ve seen that comedic trope repeated over and over again in sitcoms on TV. Real roof leaks, though, are no laughing matter. More frustrating than dealing with ceiling drip is often figuring out where the water is coming from in the first place. However, an infrared camera can make it a little easier.
A home inspection with thermal imaging can help to identify the source roof leaks. Typically, the problem comes from gaps in the roofing material caused by poor installation or damage. The moisture collected there will often retain heat from sunlight much longer than the rest of the roof. Given the right timing, thermal imaging will quickly identify the “hot spots” on your roof, which may indicate excessive moisture. Once you know where the issue is, you’ll be able to address it much more simply.
